Overview

The Malaysian Society for Quality in Health was established in 1997 with the vision of advocating, promoting, and supporting continuous quality improvements and safety in Malaysian healthcare arena.

Who We Are

MSQH is recognized nationally and internationally as the leading Malaysian organization which promotes and improves safety and quality in the provision of healthcare services in Malaysia. Through active and smart partnerships with healthcare professionals, relevant facilities and agencies, and educational institutions involved in healthcare, MSQH has become the national voice in continuous quality improvement in healthcare facilities and services.

What We Do

In order to realize this vision, MSQH develops standards, plans and implements accreditation programmes, promotes safety and quality improvement in healthcare facilities, and organises opportunities for communication of ideas and exchange of experiences on current and best practices in health care. MSQH has also initiated the Patient for Patients Safety Movement to strengthen patients and family engagement in the delivery of healthcare services since 2014.

Assure quality and safety in healthcare to the consumers and general public through continuous quality improvement and patient safety, advocacy, promotion and education as well as training and accreditation of all healthcare facilities and services. Recognition by the

Ministry of Health

MSQH obtained further reaffirmation of recognition by the Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Hj. Mohd. Ismail Merican, as the National Accrediting Body for Health Care Facilities and Services in his letter KKM.KPK.5305.20/11 Jld.13(43) Dated 27 November 2006.

Partnership With

Standards Malaysia

MSQH signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with STANDARDS MALAYSIA on 19 November 2009. The MoU was signed between Tan Sri Siti Sa’adiah Sheikh Bakir, President of MSQH and Datuk Fadilah Baharin, Director General of STANDARDS MALAYSIA, witnessed by Y.B. Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation and Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Ahmad Tajuddin Ali, Chairman of the Malaysian Council on Standards and Accreditation (MSDAM). The MoU further recognised and strengthened the existing partnership between MSQH and STANDARDS MALAYSIA. Among the areas of collaboration suggested in the MoU are capacity building and technical collaboration in health care related activities.

STANDARDS MALAYSIA is also represented in the MSQH Committee. This collaboration signifies the recognition of MSQH as the premier accrediting body for health care facilities and services in Malaysia.

Brainchild of the Ministry of Health (MOH) in partnership with the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia (APHM) and the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).
Recognised by STANDARDS MALAYSIA as the Accreditation Body and Standards writing organisation for health care facilities and services in Malaysia.
MSQH is pleased to welcome the Malaysian Nurses Association as a Committee Member beginning in 2021 and the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia will join the Committee in 2023.

International

Recognition

MSQH continues to strive towards becoming a highly recognised organisation not only nationally but also internationally in accreditation of healthcare facilities and services by re-certification of accreditation our organisation and Surveyor Training programme with the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) for the 5th cycle.

MSQH has been awarded the ISQua accreditation certification for Organisation and Surveyor Training Programme from 2024 until 2028.

MSQH has been awarded the ISQua accreditation certification for standard from 2022 until 2026

Members of ISQua Accreditation Council

The following ISQua member organizations are represented on the Accreditation Council which oversees the processes of ISQua’s International Accreditation Program (IIAP) which MSQH is one of the council members. To ensure international and independent overview, ex-officio members of the Council include representatives from the International hospital Federation, the World Health Organization (WHO), World Bank and WONCA, the world organization for family practice. This Council reports to ISQua’s Executive Board. MSQH have been actively involved in the following international committees:
